A remote area of Cornwall, U.K... a dark and eerie night... strange and unexplainable happenings... conflict between the past and the present.... All these and more serve to set the stage for Barrow Hill, a haunting mystery/adventure game .

After your car breaks down as you are driving through the Cornwall countryside, you are forced to go for assistance. However, on this night, in this place, you will encounter more than you bargained for, as forces begin stirring in the woods, and a forgotten legend awakes.

The game takes place entirely in the space of a single night -- September 21, the autumnal equinox -- in a location already laden with myth and legend. Barrow Hill, Cornwall is the site of an ancient burial ground, undisturbed for centuries, but now exposed to the diggings of an industrious archaeologist. You must delve into ancient Celtic legends, learn about ancient kings and mythological characters, and follow the path of archaeologist Conrad Morse, in an attempt to find out what is happening, and stop the horror before it is too late.

Barrow – A burial mound. Typically used thousands of years ago to honor the great men at the time. Some barrows are simply large piles of dirt over a grave. Others contain rooms and chambers. Sometimes the barrows were marked with standing stones, or menhirs. England has thousands of barrows and standing stones (the most famous of which is Stone Henge). The county of Cornwall is especially rich with these artifacts from the past. In fact, they have a small town named Barrow Hill which contains, you’ll never guess, a barrow with standing stones. Stranded on the lonely road, which leads up to the Barrow, you must make your way through the trees, and darkening landscape, and out onto the Barrow itself. You will discover that the barrow is more than just a mound of earth and a collection of forgotten standing stones. However, not all archaeology is constructive, for some things should be left buried and undisturbed. Perhaps it is too late for that…

Barrow Hill is a horror adventure game created in 2006 by independent developers Matt Clark & Shadow Tor Studios.

The game is set in the site of Barrow Hill, which is based on real geographical locations in Cornwall, England.

A detailed and spellbinding story and organic puzzles are woven through the very fabric of Barrow Hill, leading you to explore well trodden pathways across the land, seek clues in almost forgotten shrines, unearth ancient artifacts, and delve into the Celtic legends which haunt the green lanes of the hill.
